Governance

Welcome to the section of the website where you can find out more about our school’s Academy Committee, and the work that they do.

Our school is governed at a local level by an Academy Committee, comprised of individuals local to our community who have a commitment to improving education, parents and staff. The Academy Committee’s main role is to carry forward the vision, values, ethos and strategic direction of the school, hold senior leaders to account for the educational performance of the school, and ensure the voices of stakeholders are heard. The Committee meets regularly and individual governors also visit the school to oversee specific aspects of our work.

Jo has previously worked as a Senior Environmental Consultant but took a career break to raise her family due to my husband working in the Armed Forces.

Previously to her governing role at Thorpe Primary, Jo was a committee member and then chair of a local preschool. Jo had varied roles during her time as a co-opted governor from dealing with finances/budgets, estates, Headteachers performance management review to safeguarding and sports premium.

Peterborough is Jo’s birthplace and relocated back to the area in 2010. Jo was impressed by the school on her very first visit and felt she wanted to not only utilise her current skills in a voluntary capacity but also be able to give something back to the local community.

Being a governor at Thorpe Primary is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable roles that Jo has undertaken. Jo can utilise her skills and knowledge to support the work of the governing committee and help the school to become even better than it already is.

Jo enjoys spending time with her family travelling across the UK & sometime internationally for sporting events. Jo loves the great outdoors particularly walking, snorkeling, baking and is an avid Netflix watcher.

Kathryn’s family moved to Peterborough area a number of years ago and a career opportunity arose within Thorpe Primary School and Kathryn decided to relocate to Peterborough from Northern Ireland.
