We are celebrating World Book Day this year in school because we support the charity's mission to change lives through a love of books and reading. There are a range of activities planned throughout the day to celebrate, including some live online workshops, creating costumes and writing an alternative ending to a story.

Dressing up or bringing books into the school is a big part of the World Book Day celebrations and is something that children and families particularly enjoy. We are inviting children to dress up this World Book Day as it’s an exciting way for children to get book recommendations from each other. The book choice is key – even if it’s just a prop or a clue, make sure your child is recommending something to read with their costume. We would like the children to come dressed as a character or prop from their favourite book, or their favourite author. We will be hosting a competition for the most creative and unique costume per class, with an exciting prize!

We would also like children to bring in a cushion or blanket if they have one, so that we can create a relaxing ‘book nook’ in each classroom for the children to have some quiet reading time.

This week, your child(ren) will receive their free book token which they can exchange for any of the 2026 World Book Day £1 books at any of the following stores:

We have some fantastic special lunch days coming up this Spring term. First up is our celebratory World Book Day lunch - featuring Everlasting pizza with alphabet letters, Inventing Room jacket potatoes and Chocolate River sandwiches - on March 5th.
