Geography
At Thorpe Primary school, children are encouraged to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as their place in it. Our Geography curriculum is designed to develop knowledge and skills that are progressive, as well as transferable, from the Early Years until they leave us in Year 6. We also strive to ensure that we use Geography to support each child’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
Within our Geography teaching we ensure our children develop an understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills, as well as encouraging them to ask questions themselves to find out more about the natural and human aspects of the world. We seek to inspire our children to have a lifelong desire to be curious about the world around them, and the people who live here, to ensure their learning never stops. We aim to develop the children’s interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Our goal is to ensure that we nurture children who are engaged, motivated and curious learners that take an interest in the world around them.
